About Launch Hampton Roads
Launch Hampton Roads is Opportunity Inc.’s program to provide entrepreneurship training under the U.S. Department of Labor’s Workforce Innovation Fund grant as part of a three region Virginia consortium that includes organizations in Northern Virginia and Richmond. In Hampton Roads, the program will provide comprehensive entrepreneurship training and technical assistance to 250 individuals who are interested in entrepreneurship and self-employment through business ownership. All clients receive customized training in a core curriculum that includes: business planning, accounting, finance and credit, and sales and marketing. After the core training session is complete, the follow-on services include small business counseling, mentoring, peer-group meetings, and networking events. All program elements are free of charge. Anyone interested in Launch Hampton Roads should attend an information session as soon as possible.
About Opportunity Inc.
Opportunity Inc. is the staff organization for the Hampton Roads Workforce Development Board, serving eight localities in South and Western Hampton Roads. The organization is charged with developing strategies and programs that support the needs of business and industry for a workforce that is skilled, capable, and able to meet the demands of the 21st Century workplace. OppInc. One-Stop Workforce Centers, a consortium managed by Opportunity Inc, operates three One-Stop Workforce Centers in Norfolk, Franklin, and Suffolk. OppInc. provides workforce services to job seekers, local employers, and individuals who might be thinking about making a career switch as well as those who are just getting into the workforce. OppInc. also has a Youth Program which is located at Pembroke Mall, and is intended for youth ages 14-21. OppInc. is currently operating a U.S. Department of Labor grant program, called Launch Hampton Roads, to provide training and assistance to individuals who are interested in business ownership.
